Champs Rotisserie and Spirits

WHAT WE ORDERED:
  • BBQ rib snack (5 bones with baked on sauce) with baked potato, coleslaw, and garlic bread
  • Champs burger, medium with cheddar cheese, waffle fries and black bean & sausage soup
HE SAID: I really enjoyed the soup; it was different than anything I've ever had. The burger was run-of-the-mill at best.
SHE SAID: The restaurant claims to have "the best ribs in Detroit" but apparently they haven't been anywhere else in the city. The sauce was way too tangy and the ribs didn't have a dry rub so there was very little flavor on the meat. They were tender, though. The coleslaw had too much vinegar.
TAKE OUT: The restaurant, although it has a great location, is suffering through an identity crisis between a bar and a family restaurant. The outside patio is a great feature and would be perfect for a drink after work. The food is average but they did offer snack-sized options if you are working with a budget.
